In 2016, Mark Fisher began fleshing out the concept of Acid Communism, the idea that there was forgotten, liberatory potential in reclaiming elements of the 60’s counterculture which might help us tap into a post-capitalist desire.
This series inspects Detroit, a fundamentally hauntological city, and examines whether it might be an acid testing ground for this concept. After all, Fisher’s most salient examples come from motown group’s who drifted into the psychedelic realm of communal joy and visions of a post-work world.
